TanTowel Self-Tanner To The Rescue

I try to stay out of the sun. Ok, so I get nervous being in the sun without sunscreen and I feel naked without my wide-brim hat. Umm I get anxious when I don’t have my powdered sunscreen brush in close reach for reapplication (I swear I’m not addicted). So what!? Well, now I’m wondering WHAT a pale girl is to do when she is asked LAST-MINUTE to go to Vegas, but desperately needs some color in a hurry, but doesn’t have time for a spray at Sunset Tan (welcome to LA folks) before a flight? A light bulb goes off, she remembers she has TanTowel towelettes (thank you beauty giveaway) and throws them in her bag  because they’re airline-approved, then she seeks advice from her always tanned cubicle companion, Miss (soon-to-be Mrs.) Marissa via text!

self-tanner-tantowelMy Guidelines: I want a gorgeous, streak-free and natural looking tan, but the only self-tanner I have are these TanTowel towelettes.  Oh, and no orange hands afterwards.

self-tanner-marissaMarissa’s Advice:
1. Exfoliate! It helps create a smooth surface so the TanTowel can go on evenly.
2. Apply TanTowel – unfold towelette and apply to dry skin in a circular motion.
3. Moisturize with body lotion to help the self-tanner soak in and minimize streaks.
4. Don’t forget to WASH YOUR HANDS!

The Results: MARVELOUS! Oh, and no orange hands. So fear the sun, not the self-tanner.

I’m going on vacation this weekend and didn’t want to be white!! Thanks for the advice! :)

  2. DO I SPRAY THE TANNER ON THE TOWELETTES FIRST BEFORE RUBBING INTO THE SKIN?

  3. Lauren Salerno – Beauty Editor says:

Hi Gerda! The towelettes already have the self-tanning formula in them, that’s why they are so perfect, especially for travel!

i purchassed the tan towels and they turn me yellow so i have had to return them any ideas what else i can use instead of the sun?

  6. Lauren Salerno – Beauty Editor says:

Hi Lisa! When you exfoliate you are sloughing off a layer of dead skin cells. It is recommended to exfolaite regularly for healthy, radiant skin and highly recommended before you self-tan so your skin is smooth and the formula can on evenly to avoid any streaks. This is a great one from Caudalie.

Hey Lisa, I’m sorry that you turned yellow! There are definitely options instead of the sun to get a gorgeous glow. Since winter is quickly approaching I think the best idea is to use a gradual self-tanner + moisturizer. This way you’ll still look tan, but it will be subtle AND your skin will be super moisturized! I’ve heard good things about this self-tanner from glominerals. I hope this works, let me know what you think!

  9. Hi,

I think it’s very important to get some good advice before you get your fake tan applied.

If you are applying your tan yourself, read the label and take advice from the manufacturer. Prepare your skin properly. If you are going to a salon, call them up before-hand and get some information.

There are quite a few forums discussing this, including the spray tan forum. http://www.spraytanforum.com – and they are excellent free places to get tips and advice from other users.
