Makeup Trends: a tribute to 80s beauty

My Labor Day weekend was filled with 80s movies and cartoons.  Being inspired by She-Ra and Kelly LeBrock from Weird Science , I just had to apply the 80s makeup trends to my beauty collection. Here are the crucial items that truly define such a decade of big hair and heavy eye makeup:

Big hair must: Jonathan Product Finish Control

Hairspray was probably the most essential beauty tool of the 80s. How else could one get their hair to stay so perfectly coiffed? The best part about this hair spray is what it doesn’t have: CFCs. Jonathan Product is great about keeping their products environmentally focused.

Betty Davis Eyes: Dramatic eye essentials

  1. Eyeshadow primer- keeps all that shadow in place and the color pigment popping. My favorite is Shadow Insurance by Too Faced Cosmetics.
  2. Eyeliner
  3. Eyeshadow palette – one that includes a pop of color like electric blue or hot pink. This one by Pop Beauty is a favorite of mine.
  4. Mascara in black to complete the look. You’ll be looking more like Joan Jett if you go for a rich black.

Electric Avenue: hot pink lip

We featured this in our hot trends for summer and now it’s morphed into fall. Check out the following video on how to get this look: http://www.youtube.com/glowbeauty#play/uploads/9/uKvVJ8I3d7w

Invoke your 80s style and submit your picture to our Facebook page. We’d love to see how our fans are applying this trend to their looks.
