I know that old news is no news, but I still can’t believe the MTV Video Music Award incident involving Hip Hop Artist, Kanye West and Country Singer, Taylor Swift. All week people couldn’t stop talking about it.  For days, it made top headlines everywhere -radio, television, internet and every gossip site imaginable!  Here’s Rolling Stone’s version of events in case you were on vacation, living under a rock, or for some other reason missed it. I want to give Taylor Swift credit for her grace, composure and beauty at the VMA’s.  Here are some tips on how to get makeup and hair like Taylor Swift.  In my opinion, she worked the red carpet and had one of my favorite looks of the evening.  Taylor looked age appropriate, classy, sexy and flawless.

 How to Get Taylor Swift’s Look:

Face: Start by applying loose foundation all over your face with a makeup brush keeping it light and translucent, not at all cakey.  Next, dust a mineral veil or shimmer highlighter on the bridge of your nose, forehead and cheekbones to set.  Finish with a very light natural pink blush applied to the apples of your cheeks. Make sure you only go a shade or two darker than your natural flush at most.  

Eyes: Use a white shimmer or light pearlescent eyeshadow all over your lids. Make sure to highlight your brow bones and the inside corners of your eyes. Use an angled brush to dust a little shimmer underneath your lower lash line as well. This will help open your eyes making them pop. Finish by applying thick black liquid eyeliner, fake lashes and black mascara.  

Lips: A beautiful red lip brings a touch of old school Hollywood glamour and completes the look.

Hair: Part your hair on the side and pull back loosely. Leave some fringe (aka bangs) in the front loose that you can either tuck behind your ear or leave down. Style the back in a simple low chignon or twist it into a classic French twist. Overall, your hair should look simple and romantic, not stiff and crunchy.
